Again?!

Earlier this week the preschool closed early for a snow day.... We hadn't been home long. I needed to go to the bathroom so I told Gavin to take off his shoes while mommy went potty. While in the bathroom I suddenly heard a few loud booms and then my boy crying! Uh oh what happened now.....
When I came out Gavin was laying at the bottom of the stairs crying. Great... he just got a knot on his head.. not another one! When I told him to come see me so I could see it he sat up and immediately threw up. Then he tried to walk over to me and he fell over. I being the panic one called Matt at work. He came home and we spent the next hour trying to keep him awake. (this was no easy task). After a call to the doctor, we were told that if he was still throwing up the next day and if he had slurred speech to bring him in. Luckily.. he just got a few more bruises on his head. The poor guy looks like he has been in a fight. The only thing left now is stiches... maybe that'll be this weekend. Let's hope not!!

This is actually a picture from today... it looks a lot better than it did!

Hurricanes Game

For Valentines Day I gave Matt tickets to the Hurricanes game. The game was last night and we all had a blast. We got to sit in the lower level and we were pretty happy with how good our seats were. The game was awesome. The hurricanes won in a shoot out which Matt had never witnessed before. It was a really awesome game... after all... what was there not to like ??

Daddy got to watch hockey....

Gavin got to see the John Deere zamboni....

and stay out late eating dippin dots.....

and Mommy got to stare at the hot goalie all night :)

What Happened To Your Head??

Wednesday night was just like any other night until about 8:30 when it was time for Gavin to go to bed. We were racing to see who got up the stairs first like we always do. Gavin made it up first and then for who knows what reason he turned back around and came down a few stairs. He saw me coming and wanted to "win" again so he turned around quickly and ran.... right into the stairs.... OUCH!! This was a good one.. Yikes!

At least we didn't have to go to the ER.... just some ice!

We are still alive!

Sorry it's been so long... I got the flu last week and it really knocked me out! But we're better now and I wanted to post what I had been meaning to post a few weeks ago....

Gavin, like any kid I've ever known, really wanted a bunk bed so he could "sleep up high". Bunk beds are expensive, hard to make, and usually not wanted after a couple years so spending the money to make it happen was not looking good for Gavin. Sorry bud....

Good news though... Gavin has a very talented daddy.... so while we were at Aunt Nen's daddy made Gavin a special surprise.... and he loves it!! Gotta love the daddy who can make just about anything!

I finally won....

I must say that when given the choice between mommy or grandma & gigi.. usually mommy will lose out. So... when a special box came on the doorstep for who Gavin claimed was "my box" even though it did say.. "Stevens FAMILY" I shouldn't have been surprised when my boy ripped it open to find a special Valentines treat from grandma and gigi and stated "I love these mommmy.... you not buy these for me.... just grandma and gigi did!" Yeah, yeah... whatever. Too bad I've bought you the millions that are already upstairs but you're right... I didn't buy these ones.
Who would have thought some matchbox cars would have made his day like they did...mommy and daddy's present of a card a some candy couldn't match up to new matchbox cars... or could they????

See what everyone may not know is that I love these people:

because this time... their invention of the music card helped my present win out...... YES!!

My boy loves music cards! He will play them a million times and dance all around the room... for those of you who may not have seen it... here's what it looks like

So there... I'll find a way to win one way or another! :) HAHA! :)

Snow Day Fun...

Yesterday we had our first snow day in North Carolina in like 4 years. It really doesn't happen too much. They predicted 1-3 inches in most parts and 2-4 is some. We ended up with 41/2 almost 5in.! We were so excited. Mommy and Daddy were out of work and school was cancelled. In fact the South doesn't play around. Up north we would have had a delay but here they closed school and over 800 businesses for 2 days! Even Chick fil A was closed!
We spent the day making a snowman, throwing snowballs, sledding on trash can lids, and painting the snow! We even went to Nenner and John's to play for a little while! We had a great day together!

Getting ready to go outside!

Lots of snow!

It's still snowing!

How much snow is there?

Brrr... please let me in! I'm a baby!

On your mark...

get set.....

Go!

Are You Gonna Leave Or What?!

This weekend Matt and I were able to have a kid free dinner. I must admit it was kinda nice not to say "sit down please", "leave the sugar packets alone", or "I thought you said you were hungry".
2 years ago a child in my classroom gave me a gift certificate to go to the Angus Barn. We never really go out by ourselves because by the time you pay for a babysitter and dinner you are almost at $100! I know I had a gift certificate but the Angus Barn is no ordinary restaurant. You must make reservations weeks and sometimes months in advance! In fact they were booked for Valentines Day before Christmas! I don't know about you but I can't plan that far in advance!
We made reservations last month to go on Saturday. We figured if we didn't have to pay for dinner we could pay for a babysitter ;)
Things actually worked out even better. The parents in Gavin's class decided they would swap babysitting each month. It is actually working out quite nicely. About 7 of the kids go to a friend's house once a month from 4 to about 9 and have a "party". The other parents then get a night to themselves. It is lovely! (I only say this because we have not reached our house in the babysitting rotation.. haha!) Anyway... Saturday was the night that Gavin got to go to his "party" while Mommy and Daddy went out. That's right... we didn't have to pay for dinner or a babysitter! Those are the best kind of dates!
We really enjoyed getting to have an adult conversation and enjoy each other's company.

You might wonder how Gavin does when being dropped off at a friends house and not having Mommy and Daddy stay.....

I believe the conversations went a little like this....

Mommy & Daddy - "Ok, Gavin we are going to leave... give us a hug and kiss bye"
Gavin - "Bye"
Mommy & Daddy - "Love you... be nice"
Gavin - "k, bye"
~ Mommy and Daddy stand around and talk to parents for about 5 minutes.
~ Gavin comes up from playing in the basement with his friends...
Gavin - "Are you gonna leave or what?"

Mommy and Daddy leave for dinner and return around 8:30.

Gavin - "Why did you come back?"
Mommy & Daddy - "We missed you too.. thanks"

Touching isn't it? At least it is nice to know that he can enjoy himself without Mommy and Daddy being around.
