Friday Funday at the Indoor Playground
Today we went to the new indoor playground and then out to eat at Pizza Hut. Gavin's favorite thing was the rock wall. I think he spent at least half the time trying to climb it! As for Megan... there isn't anything for a baby so she just watched her brother. Something she actually does enjoy doing! Here are some pictures from today...

Monster Truck Show
A couple weekends ago Matt took Gavin to the monster truck show at the RBC center. All of his buddies and their dads went too! They had a great time!

Way to bring it right back...
Let me just tell you about my morning....
From 8:15 to 12:30 Gavin managed to
* fall off the stool in the bathroom causing a nice strawberry burn on his tummy after I told him at least 5 times not to play on the stool
* have the blinds fall out of the window (again after being told numerous times not to play with them)
*fall down the stairs while trying to walk in my shoes that I had just told him to take off
*hit his sister in the head with a ball while trying to play ping pong in the house
*ruin a pear of jeans by cutting a hole in them with scissors (although he claims he didn't and that they already had a hole just like daddy's... yeah right!)
* spill his milk all over the table, the floor, and the dog that was sitting next to him
and last but not least...
Slip and fall while going up and down his bunk bed ladder trying to play fire man after I told him the bed was not a playground. He now has a busted lip to go with that strawberry on his tummy!
The child looks like I beat him! I said, "Gavin... why can't you just obey mommy when I tell you something. Then you wouldn't get hurt or get in trouble. It really isn't that hard just to listen is it?! In fact we would have lots more fun if you would just listen!"
Side note -- I've moved my quiet time to nap time because I'm just too tired in the morning and my son gets up earlier than me so there would be no quiet! The night is never a good time cause I always have stuff to do... therefore... nap time is the best time now!
Ok so anyway... while doing my bible study today God had a funny little lesson for Lauren....
It started with list some things God has asked you to do that you have ignored...
I gave my list
Then
Read Deeuteronomy 11: 26-28
"See I am setting befored you today a blessing and a curse - the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today"
It then read...
Wouldn't it be much easier to accept the blessing than the curse by just obeying God's commands?"
Gotcha... so maybe Gavin isn't the only one who should just obey the first time!

I have been blessed....
About a year ago I made the decision to listen to christian radio stations or cds while I was in the car so I don't hear too many country or pop songs anymore. While at Texas Roadhouse the other night I heard this one. It's always been one of my favorite songs but I really feel like it applys to my life so much now! My days aren't always easy but I must remember... "I am so blessed!"

Friday Funday...
When I was teaching we used to have freeplay Friday. The kids could choose any center to play in and many of the centers that weren't open everyday (like playdough) were open. Now that I'm a stay at home mom I decided I still need something to look forward to. And for that matter I think Gavin does too. I decided Friday would be Friday Funday! Each week we'll do something fun. This week we went to Marbles Museum. This is one of Gavin's favorite places. He is always asking to go! Since Grammy and Gramps got us a membership for Christmas it looks like this might be a Friday Funday we do alot! Here are a few pictures I took today!

I think she has given up....
It used to be that Megan didn't seem to fond of her brother. He was too loud and was always in her face. However, Saturday morning I believe she gave up. Gavin was not going anywhere and now that she thinks about it... he's pretty neat. When she woke up in the morning she was very talkative... but only to Gavin. It was sooo cute to see her smile at him and see him try to play with her. I was pretty sure it was just a fluke.
However, this morning she did it again. She didn't want to nurse she just wanted to talk and smile at her brother. It's official... she does kinda like him afterall! I know it won't last forever but it is cute to see for now :)

Bittersweet....
Today was a sad day for both mommy and Gavin. Today I told my boss that I would not be returning from maternity leave. I tried to negotiate and work a deal so that I could return but my boss just wasn't willing and there was no way that I would work just to put my kids in daycare. In fact, if I missed one day of work I would end up having to pay! So as I said... instead of spending $550 a week we decided I should stay at home. (You might see me at Target at night but hey!)
This is hard for me... I've never been a stay at home mom and I actually find it easier to be a working mom! You get time with your children and your own time with adult friends! However, my sadness is really more for Gavin. He has never known life without being in preschool. He loves his friends at school and asks me on a daily basis if he can go back yet. Yesterday I had to tell him we weren't going to be going back... he started crying and said.. "why? cause we ran out of money's?" It was cute but really sad!
In the meantime I will be looking for a job that pays better so that both of my children can go to preschool... or I will end up getting a part time job and sending Gavin to a half day preschool.
It's so hard ... especially when I don't know where the money is going to come from to pay for all the added expenses.... until then I will just try to remember that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for me...
Until then I will try my best to enjoy the extra time I get to spend with my two little blessings!
All prayers would be greatly appreciated! :)

Bathtime is Funtime!
It used to be that Megan would cry when we would give her a bath. She hates being cold! I can't say that I really blame her! However, now that she doesn't have to have a sponge bath she LOVES the bath! She loves kicking her legs and splashing and she really enjoys looking at the baby in the mirror that is always there! It's so cute!
Did I mention I absoulutely love the smell of children who have just taken a bath or shower and have been rubbed down with baby lotion??? Mmmmmm...makes me just want to squeeze them and kiss them!
