Happy Birthday To You

After what we thought was going to be a bummer weekend due to a fever and a bad cough, Gavin did a turnaround and had a wonderful birthday weekend with friends and family. Friday he stayed home from school and totally wore out Gramps. On Saturday he had a pirate party with his friends and on Sunday we went to the fair. He had a great time!

Here are some pictures of the weekend...

A true Daddy's boy...

Lately Gavin has been very needy. He wants every bit of our attention. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad! Since my major is Early Childhood I know why he's acting this way but it doesn't make it any better or easier to deal with.

When it comes to sleeping I can't complain about Gavin at all. Putting him to bed has always been a breeze. After bath is bed and there is never complaining, crying, or temper tantrums. It is wonderful! However, the last two weeks have been an entirely different story. There is still no crying or tantrums when we put him to bed. So what's the problem you are wondering? Well... after prayers are said, the lights are out, and Daddy has made it to the last step... we hear it.....

The sound of the door creaking open very slowly.... the pitter patter of little feet... the faint sound of a wimpering child....

By the time this child makes it downstairs there is some excuse as to why he can't sleep. At first it starts with some kind of sickness that suddenly came on. He is then placed back in his bed.

15 minutes later we hear the sound again.... The sound of the door creaking open very slowly.... the pitter patter of little feet... the faint sound of a wimpering child.... and yet another excuse... this time... puppy is hitting dinosaur and the dinosaur is roaring and now he can't sleep.

This happens usually about 3 times before he finally falls asleep. It gets old really fast! It's not too bad for mommy because Gavin is 100% a daddy's boy so daddy must take him to bed , tell dinosaur to be quiet and all that good stuff.
One problem...
Daddy is not patient at all! He gets annoyed very quickly! So it was no surprise last night when Matt looked at me and said.. "it's your turn.. i might hurt him!" Mommy took the crying child back up to bed, reassured him that everything was fine and that it was bedtime and time to close his eyes and go to sleep. This is when my son did it again... he shocked me to the point of having no come back! I hate when that happens! I will have to say though that he had a valid point/concern and I did think it was pretty funny. The conversation went like this....

Gavin - " I want my daddy to sleep in my bed with me"
Mommy - "Sorry, daddy has his own bed and so do you. You know daddy doesn't come and sleep with you!"
Gavin - (crying and very annoyed) "DADDY ALWAYS SLEEPS WITH YOU!!"
Mommy - (after a long silence of trying to figure out what to say back to that) "Sorry Gav, I'll tell daddy when I go downstairs you want him to sleep with you tonight ok? Now go to sleep! Love you!
Gavin - " Ok, tell him.... night mommy love you!"

Oh Gavin... you always make me laugh! Next time daddy is snoring or hitting in his sleep... I might just take you up on that offer! :) I do love you even if you are a true daddy's boy!

And I thought I was crazy....

Last week I started to notice alot of pressure. It was almost like Megan was sitting right on my bladder. She couldn't have dropped already?? I was only 30 weeks and I know Gavin didn't drop until at least 35 weeks! My feet were also starting to swell more and I was having those lovely braxton hicks. Boo!

Well I went to the doctor and explained what I was feeling and guess what.....

I'm not crazy!!

He told me I was exactly right. Megan has already dropped and put herself in the head down position. The doctor said well honey... looks like to me she is ready to come! Apparently she wants to make an early entrance! This was not good for me! I am not ready for her at all!! In fact, truth be told... I'm pretty scared about it! I think reality has hit me! I'm going to be a mom of 2!

Sorry Megan... you still got 60 more days! :)

Megan's 4D Sonogram

Today I went to have a 4D sonogram. It was really neat and something they didn't have when I was pregnant with Gavin. It does cost a pretty penny but in my opinion it was worth it. (Matt's opinion... not so much... he was gonna see her in a few weeks anyway!)

She was less than cooperative and a real diva during the session. She had no desire to have her picture taken let alone be messed with in any way. However, we still did manage to get some cute pictures. Here is a little slideshow I put together for you to see. There were over 75 images so I tried to cut them down a little.

Enjoy!

My Favorite Drawing...

I always wondered when Gavin would start drawing pictures. He was never interested in coloring and would spend most of his time at school in housekeeping. However over the last couple weeks Gavin has been drawing more and more pictures. This was one of my favorites.

He drew a picture (from left to right) of Gavin, Mommy (& the belly), and Daddy.
I thought it was pretty funny that Mommy was so much bigger than everybody else. Guess that says alot huh? However what made the picture a classic and a definite keeper was when I was asking him questions about what he drew:

Mommy - " What did you draw"

Gavin - "Me, You and your big belly see it?, and Daddy with a hat"

Mommy - " I like those feet you gave Mommy but where are my legs?"

The classic line.....

Gavin - " Mommy your belly is too big... you can't see your legs!"

Haha!!! Straight from the mouth of a child! He really makes me laugh sometimes!!
