Fall means....

Fall means cooler weather.... and cooler weather means.....playing outside with daddy on the weekends! We all already know that Gavin is a big daddy's boy and he loves to be outside so this is his dream come true! Looks like Megan (although not a daddy's girl yet!) loves to be outside just as much!! Love to watch my kids playing with their daddy!

Surgery Again

Sorry for the late posts but I've got a million and one things going on at one time and haven't had a chance to update the blog!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Gavin had to have emergency ear surgery on Sept. 30. His ear was attacking the tube with tissue and it all needed to be cut out before he lost hearing altogether. Now, this surgery thing is old news to us. We've done it so many times that it's like second nature to us! However, now Gavin is older and he actually understands what it going to take place. Add that to some crazy anxiety issues the boy already has and you have well.... A HOT MESS!

Before the surgery it started with, "I'm not going!" "I'll run and hide and you won't find me!" "I hate doctors!" You name it he said it!

The night before we tried to play the whole thing up. Let him stay up till midnight, eat all the food he wanted and drink anything his heart desired! Sounds fabulous right?! Well it was until the next morning when he realized not only was it FAR too early to be up but he REALLY didn't want to do this!

Tears all the way to the hospital. They gave him a drug to calm him down and make him loopy but he is so stubborn it didn't work! Just more tears....

So.. he got another dose. This seemed to do the trick cause then he was just silly and completely trashed! Wow... you really don't want to see this kid drunk!

Surgery lasted a little longer than expected... there was more tissue than originally thought but all went well. They ended up giving him more pain medicine.

Woke up in recovery... seemed to be OK... got some juice and a new teddy bear and we headed home! Not so bad right?!

Yeah, until he started hallucinating in the car, telling the child a million times the same thing cause he didn't remember anything and then an afternoon full of throwing up! Looks like he is like his momma when it comes to anesthesia! Poor buddy!

However, the next day... was like it never happened! Back to new! Here's hoping those tubes did their job and there will be no more surgeries!

Might as well be twins!

Megan has by far some of the craziest hair you will ever see! Lately, I've been able to put it in a small pony on top of her head. When you take the hairband out it still sticks straight up! We've decided... Megan doesn't look like mommy.... NOPE! Megan doesn't look like daddy.... NOPE! She looks like....

A cockatiel! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

10 Months Today!

Today my "baby" is 10 months old! I thought by staying home with this one I might not feel as if time flew by as fast but I was wrong! I can still remember vividly that special day! Here are a few things the lil stinker is up to now:

* She still LOVES her mommy! It's a fact.. daddy has not corrupted this one yet!
* Her brother is still her favorite play toy!!
* She is standing up on everything now! She will sometimes walk around the furniture unless she wants to get to something quickly and in that case... she sits, crawls, and stands back up!
* She is eating more and more table food. Spaghetti is definitely a favorite right now!
* She has turned into a full blown DRAMA QUEEN! When things don't go her way she immediately throws herself back and has hit her head more than once doing it!
* She is having a hard time learning how to share with others!
* She finally has enough hair to put a tiny little sprout on top of her head and this makes mommy happy!
* She loves to dance and clap her hands. There doesn't even have to be any music!
* The last few nights she has gone to bed at 8:45 and not woken up until  9 the next morning!
* She is an awesome napper! Although she only takes one nap a day... she will sleep 3-4 hours! Lovely!
* She continues to wrap her daddy around her finger everytime she screams, claps, and crawls to him when get gets home from work! Way to boost the ego!

We love you Megan and are so glad God gave us such a sweet lil monster!!

What a memory that boy has!

TeamKid started at church and Gavin has been really excited about going. Due to being out of town, last week was the first night he was able to go. Since he was so excited about going I just knew that he would be full of conversation when I picked him up! Boy was I wrong! The conversation went like this...

Me: So.. how was TeamKid? Did you have fun?
Gavin: Yeah
Me: What did you do?
Gavin: Stuff
Me: Like??
Gavin: Just stuff!
Me: What did you talk about?
Gavin: I don't remember
Me: Did you make any friends?
Gavin: Can we go to Red Robin?

Obviously, he had no desire to talk about it. I was a little concerned about whether he would want to go back this week until we were all playing downstairs yesterday and he said out of the blue... "Wanna hear what I did at TeamKid mommy?"

I couldn't believe it! In one night he memorized this?? This kid has a crazy memory! I am so proud of him!

I guess he did have fun, huh?

It just gets me fired up...

I don't know if I just look very friendly to others or if I need to stop going to Target! I meet some of the most vocal people while getting items in Target. While picking up Megan's prescription today a lady asked me how old my kids were and what I did. When I responded  I stayed at home with them now she said.. I wish I could do that. I would love to just play and watch tv all day!

I must admit that if you want to get me going.. a quick way to do that is to assume that because I'm a stay at home mom I do absolutely nothing but play all day and watch tv. This couldn't be farther from the truth and in fact people who believe that should spend a day at my house! This issue comes up with strangers frequently but has also been know to cause a few disputes between my husband and I as well! Apparently he like many others believes in magic! It's amazing that clothes that you dropped next to the bed somehow make it into the laundry basket, into the laundry, and hanging back up in your closet each week! Not to mention the pee that was dripped onto the toilet seat. It somehow disappeared on it's own! Or how about those dishes you ate off of last night, this morning, and at lunch?! They just put themself in the dishwasher right? You see in just the matter of two days of mommy not doing stuff around the house in turns into this....

Endless piles of laundry....

A desk that has been scattered with bills, school assignments, and anything else that gets plopped there!

Beds that need new sheets...

Bins of clothes and toys that need to be sorted and put in rooms or the attic...

Towels that need to be put away and sheets to be folded...

Books waiting in the bags to be taken back to the library...

A dishwasher that needs to be emptied and refilled...

A table to be cleared and wiped down...

Toys that must be picked up again....

and more toys that need to be removed just so people can sit down!

And that is only part of the house... I spared you having to see the bathrooms, the floors, the bedrooms... I mean the list goes on and on.

You see... while I understand that Matt's job takes him out of the home and mine has me home everyday, it doesn't change the fact that mine is still very important! A little recognition and a few less complaints every once in a while would be great! Although many think that being a stay at home mom is all fun and games... it comes with its share of struggles as well! So..if one were to  come home and see that everyone is still in their pjs... the best thing one could do would be to assume that it has been a VERY long day and keep all negative comments to themself! And for those who feel like the oh so nice lady at Target and believe I don't do anything but sit around in my pjs all day... I'm pretty sure my to do list would appreciate you stepping in!

You can't feel that?

Before we left to go to Maryland both Gavin and Megan had a nasty cold. Being the good mommy that I am I immediately took them to the dr. to make sure that it wasn't anything more serious or contagious! While at the dr. it was discovered that Gavin's tubes that were supposed to last 2 years were gone! Well one was gone and she didn't know about the other one cause all she could see was a ball of what looked like wax and blood. Yummy I know! The dr. asked Gavin..."doesn't your ear hurt buddy?" His reply.. "Nope"

When we got back, we went to the ENT to have it checked and assumed we would schedule a time to put another set in. Needless to say... that wasn't what we heard at all! The doctor was right... one of the tubes was gone but the other ear was attacking the tube left in there by building reactive tissue. You couldn't feel that Gavin??!!  Long story short...

Emergency surgery was scheduled to remove the tube and tissue and patch his eardrum and we left with a crying baby who wanted lunch, a crying 4 year old cause he didn't want to go to the hospital, and a crying mommy cause she now had to figure out where to get $1000 by next week!! Aye Aye Aye!
